  1. Operate state-of-the-art locomotives to transport freight across the country.
  2. Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the locomotive, following all safety protocols and regulations.
  3. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the locomotive and report any maintenance or repairs needed.
  4. Communicate effectively with the train crew and dispatchers to ensure on-time and safe delivery of freight.
  5. Monitor and control train speed, track conditions, and other factors that may affect the safe operation of the locomotive.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical or technical issues that may arise during the trip.
  7. Adhere to Union Pacific Railroad policies and procedures, including Federal Railroad Administration regulations.
  8. Maintain accurate records of train movements, delays, and other important information.
  9. Continuously monitor and assess the performance of the locomotive, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal efficiency.
  10. Collaborate with other team members and departments to improve operations and solve any issues that may arise.
  11. Attend and participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  12. Represent Union Pacific Railroad in a professional and positive manner at all times.
  13. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture within the team and company.

Job Qualifications
  • A Valid Commercial Driver's License (Cdl) With A Hazardous Materials Endorsement.

  • Completion Of A Certified Locomotive Engineer Training Program.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Locomotive Engineer.

  • Ability To Pass A Background Check And Drug Test.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Federal Railroad Administration (Fra) Regulations And Safety Standards.
