
Locomotive Engineer

- Operate locomotives in a safe and efficient manner, following all company and industry regulations and protocols.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of locomotives and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Communicate effectively with other crew members and dispatchers to ensure the timely and safe movement of trains.
- Monitor train performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain speed, braking, and other operations.
- Follow all signal indications and track conditions to ensure safe train movement.
- Maintain accurate records of train movement, including train and locomotive numbers, mileage, and any incidents or delays.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and report any safety hazards or concerns.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate train operations to identify potential hazards or issues and take appropriate action to prevent accidents or delays.
- Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and company policies and procedures related to locomotive operation.
- Collaborate with other departments and team members to improve train operations and efficiency.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude while interacting with colleagues and customers.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Locomotive Engineer At Union Pacific Railroad Must Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Demonstrate A Basic Level Of Education And Knowledge.
Completion Of Railroad Training Program: Union Pacific Railroad Requires Locomotive Engineers To Complete A Comprehensive Training Program That Covers Safety Regulations, Operating Procedures, And Equipment Maintenance.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (Cdl): A Cdl Is Necessary For Operating A Locomotive, And Union Pacific Railroad Requires Locomotive Engineers To Have A Valid Cdl With Endorsements For Air Brakes And Hazardous Materials.
Prior Experience In Railroad Industry: Union Pacific Railroad Prefers Locomotive Engineers With Prior Experience In The Railroad Industry, Such As Working As A Conductor Or In A Maintenance Role. This Experience Demonstrates Knowledge Of Railroad Operations And Equipment.
Excellent Communication And Decision-Making Skills: Locomotive Engineers Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Other Crew Members And Make Quick Decisions In Emergency Situations.
