  1. Operate locomotives in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all company and industry regulations and protocols.
  2. Monitor and troubleshoot any mechanical issues or malfunctions with the locomotive.
  3. Conduct pre and post-trip inspections to ensure locomotive is in proper working condition.
  4. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members to ensure on-time and efficient delivery of cargo.
  5. Uphold a high level of professionalism and customer service when interacting with customers and coworkers.
  6. Follow proper safety procedures to ensure the well-being of yourself and others.
  7. Maintain accurate records and documentation of train operations and any incidents that occur.
  8. Continuously monitor and adjust speed and braking to ensure safe and smooth operation of the train.
  9. Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and company policies and procedures.
  10. Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
  11. Collaborate with other team members to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  12. Represent the company in a positive manner at all times and maintain a positive attitude towards the job.
  13. Be available for flexible and varied work schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  14. Handle any emergency situations that may arise during train operations.
  15. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to the company's goals and objectives.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Locomotive Engineer At Union Pacific Railroad Must Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education.

  • Valid Driver's License And Clean Driving Record: A Valid Driver's License Is Required To Operate A Locomotive, And Union Pacific Railroad Requires A Clean Driving Record To Ensure Safety And Responsibility.

  • Completion Of A Locomotive Engineer Training Program: Union Pacific Railroad Offers A Comprehensive Training Program For Their Locomotive Engineers, Which Must Be Completed Before Being Hired For The Job.

  • Previous Experience In The Railroad Industry: While Not Always Required, Having Previous Experience In The Railroad Industry Can Give An Applicant An Advantage In The Hiring Process For A Locomotive Engineer Position At Union Pacific Railroad.
