  1. Operate locomotives in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols set by Union Pacific Railroad.
  2. Perform pre and post-trip inspections of locomotives to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  3. Maintain a thorough understanding of train schedules, routes, and operating procedures.
  4. Communicate effectively with crew members, dispatchers, and other railroad personnel to ensure timely and safe transportation of goods.
  5. Monitor and adjust train speed, brakes, and other controls according to changing terrain and weather conditions.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical issues that may arise during the trip.
  7. Maintain accurate records of train movements, including any delays or incidents.
  8. Adhere to all federal and state regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  9. Attend and participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
  10. Promote a culture of safety and compliance within the team and among other railroad personnel.
  11. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers and the public.
  12. Ensure the proper handling of hazardous materials and other sensitive cargo.
  13. Adhere to strict schedules and deadlines to ensure on-time delivery of goods.
  14. Collaborate with other crew members to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  15. Continuously monitor and report any potential safety hazards or violations.
  16. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on locomotives as needed.
  17. Remain up-to-date on industry advancements and technological changes.
  18. Uphold the reputation and values of Union Pacific Railroad through exceptional performance and conduct.

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication And Problem-Solving Skills.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience Operating Locomotives, Preferably In Freight Transportation.

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (Cdl) With Air Brake And Hazardous Materials Endorsements.

  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude And Ability To Troubleshoot And Make Minor Repairs To Locomotives.

  • Ability To Work Flexible Hours, Including Weekends And Holidays, And Willingness To Be On Call 24/7.
