  1. Coordinate the movement of trains to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  2. Communicate with train crews, yardmasters, and other personnel to maintain efficient train schedules.
  3. Monitor train routes and track conditions to identify potential delays or issues and make necessary adjustments.
  4. Utilize computerized systems to track train locations and maintain accurate records.
  5. Collaborate with other departments to resolve any operational issues or delays.
  6. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols.
  7. Train and mentor new train dispatchers and provide ongoing support to existing team members.
  8. Maintain a high level of situational awareness and make quick decisions to resolve any emergencies or disruptions.
  9. Monitor weather conditions and make necessary adjustments to train schedules to ensure safe operations.
  10. Analyze data and provide regular reports on train performance and operational efficiency.
  11. Stay updated on industry regulations and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
  12. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with train crews and other personnel.
  13. Work closely with maintenance and repair crews to schedule necessary maintenance and repairs for trains.
  14. Participate in regular meetings and trainings to continuously improve skills and knowledge related to train dispatching.
  15. Represent Union Pacific Railroad in a positive manner and uphold our company values at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Typically The Minimum Educational Requirement For A Train Dispatcher Job At Union Pacific Railroad.

  • Knowledge Of Railroad Operations: Train Dispatchers Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Railroad Operations Including Train Schedules, Track Layouts, And Signaling Systems.
