Job Description

  1. Provide individual and group counseling services to student-athletes to support their mental health and well-being.
  2. Develop and implement mental health programs specifically catered to the needs of student-athletes.
  3. Collaborate with athletic trainers, coaches, and other staff members to provide a holistic approach to the care of student-athletes.
  4. Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to identify potential mental health concerns and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  5. Serve as a resource for coaches and staff on mental health issues and provide guidance on how to support student-athletes.
  6. Create and maintain a safe and confidential environment for student-athletes to share their concerns and seek help.
  7. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in the field of sports psychology to continuously improve services for student-athletes.
  8. Participate in outreach and education efforts to promote mental wellness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health in the athletic community.
  9. Advocate for the mental health needs of student-athletes and work towards creating a culture of mental wellness within the athletic department.
  10. Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Psychological Association and the University of Arizona.

Job Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree In Psychology With A Specialization In Sports Psychology

  • Certified By The Association For Applied Sport Psychology (Aasp)

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience Working With Athletes In A University Setting

  • Familiarity With Ncaa Regulations And Compliance Guidelines

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Work With Diverse Populations And Effectively Collaborate With Coaches And Athletic Staff.
