- Provide individual and group counseling services to student-athletes to support their mental health and well-being.
- Develop and implement mental health programs specifically catered to the needs of student-athletes.
- Collaborate with athletic trainers, coaches, and other staff members to provide a holistic approach to the care of student-athletes.
- Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to identify potential mental health concerns and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Serve as a resource for coaches and staff on mental health issues and provide guidance on how to support student-athletes.
- Create and maintain a safe and confidential environment for student-athletes to share their concerns and seek help.
- Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in the field of sports psychology to continuously improve services for student-athletes.
- Participate in outreach and education efforts to promote mental wellness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health in the athletic community.
- Advocate for the mental health needs of student-athletes and work towards creating a culture of mental wellness within the athletic department.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Psychological Association and the University of Arizona.
Doctoral Degree In Psychology With A Specialization In Sports Psychology
Certified By The Association For Applied Sport Psychology (Aasp)
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience Working With Athletes In A University Setting
Familiarity With Ncaa Regulations And Compliance Guidelines
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Work With Diverse Populations And Effectively Collaborate With Coaches And Athletic Staff.
