Welcome to the University of Arkansas! We are currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Science Librarian to join our dynamic team at the University Libraries. As a Science Librarian, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with students and faculty members in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic about providing exceptional research support and information literacy instruction to our diverse community.   1. Collaborate with students and faculty members in the STEM fields to provide research support and information literacy instruction.
  2. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of science resources and information needs within the University community.
  3. Stay current with developments and advancements in the sciences to enhance knowledge and support for users.
  4. Provide specialized reference services and research consultations to students and faculty in the sciences.
  5. Instruct and assist users in effectively utilizing electronic databases, online resources, and other library tools.
  6. Create and deliver engaging presentations and workshops related to science research and information literacy.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with academic departments and faculty to better understand their research and teaching needs.
  8. Collaborate with other librarians and staff to develop and promote science-related collections, services, and programs.
  9. Actively participate in library committees and work groups related to science initiatives.
  10. Stay informed and adhere to copyright laws and ethical standards in the provision of resources and services.
  11. Maintain and update subject guides, tutorials, and other instructional materials related to science research.
  12. Contribute to the development and assessment of library policies and procedures related to science resources and services.
  13. Provide excellent customer service to all library users, demonstrating a commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
  14. Stay knowledgeable of emerging trends and technologies in librarianship and make recommendations for their implementation in the science field.
  15. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in science librarianship.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Library And Information Science (Mlis) Or Related Field With A Specialization In Science Librarianship.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Scientific Research Processes And Information Needs In Various Scientific Disciplines.

  • Familiarity With Electronic Resources And Databases Related To Scientific Fields, Such As Pubmed And Web Of Science.

  • Experience In Providing Reference And Research Assistance To Faculty, Students, And Researchers In A University Setting.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills To Work Effectively With Faculty And Students In Developing And Delivering Instruction And Outreach Services Related To Science Information Resources.
