  1. Develop and implement economics programs and initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Economics.
  2. Conduct research and analyze data to make informed decisions on program development and improvement.
  3. Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the economics department.
  4. Work with faculty and staff to ensure that the economics curriculum is up-to-date and meets the standards of the university.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and university stakeholders to enhance the economics program and its impact.
  6. Provide support and guidance to students pursuing degrees in economics.
  7. Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, events, and conferences.
  8. Stay updated on current developments and advancements in the field of economics.
  9. Mentor and supervise junior staff members and provide feedback on their performance.
  10. Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations and partners to promote the economics program.
  11. Represent the economics department at university events and act as a spokesperson for the program.
  12. Assist in budget planning and management for the economics department.
  13. Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
  14. Act as a liaison between the economics department and other university departments.
  15. Continuously strive to improve the quality and reputation of the economics program at UC Berkeley.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Economics: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Economics Or A Related Field Is Required For This Position.

  • Relevant Work Experience: A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In A Related Field, Such As Economic Research Or Analysis, Is Highly Preferred.

  • Strong Analytical Skills: The Assistant Director Of Economics Will Be Responsible For Conducting Data Analysis And Producing Reports, Therefore, Strong Analytical Skills And Proficiency In Statistical Software Are Essential.

  • Leadership And Management Skills: This Role Requires The Ability To Lead And Manage A Team Of Economists And Researchers, As Well As Collaborate With Other Departments And Stakeholders.

  • Excellent Communication And Presentation Skills: The Assistant Director Of Economics Will Be Expected To Communicate Complex Economic Concepts And Findings To A Variety Of Audiences, Therefore, Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills Are A Must.
