- Perform a variety of microbiological tests and procedures, including but not limited to bacterial culture, serological testing, and molecular assays.
- Ensure all samples are handled and processed according to established protocols and quality control measures.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace, including proper disposal of biohazard materials.
- Utilize advanced laboratory equipment and techniques to accurately and efficiently perform tests.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during testing and report any deviations or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with other members of the laboratory team to prioritize and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Accurately record and analyze test results, and maintain detailed documentation in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Stay up-to-date with current research and advancements in the field of microbiology, and incorporate new techniques and procedures as needed.
- Train and supervise laboratory assistants and students, ensuring proper adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Communicate with healthcare providers and researchers to provide timely and accurate test results, and assist with data interpretation when necessary.
- Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including but not limited to CLIA and CAP guidelines.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology, Microbiology, Or Related Field.
Current Certification As A Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Cls) Or Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls) By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Microbiology Principles, Techniques, And Instrumentation.
Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Work Well In A Team-Oriented Environment.
