Job Description

The University of California, Riverside is looking for an exceptional leader as its new Assistant Director of Competitive Sports. This highly visible role in the Athletics Department will take charge of the day-to-day operations of Competitive Sports, including managing budgets and staff, coordinating special events, and driving alumni engagement. The successful candidate will have a passion for intercollegiate athletics and a commitment to making a positive impact on student-athletes, coaches, and the university community. The ideal candidate is an inspiring leader with strong organizational and communication skills and a proven track record of developing successful competitive sports programs. He or she will have a commitment to compliance and a comprehensive understanding of NCAA and conference rules and regulations. The Assistant Director of Competitive Sports will also have a commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and equitable environment for all student-athletes and coaches.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage budgets and staff related to Competitive Sports.
  2. Coordinate special events, such as tournaments or alumni reunions.
  3. Drive alumni engagement and build relationships with alumni.
  4. Inspire and lead the Competitive Sports team.
  5. Develop successful competitive sports programs.
  6. Ensure compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
  7. Create a positive, inclusive, and equitable environment for all student-athletes and coaches.
  8. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and other university staff.
