
Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
Oversees radiation contamination control activities and ensures survey equipment and the EHS scintillation counter are calibrated and functioning properly. Leads radiological decontamination and decommissioning efforts and cleanup of contaminated laboratories, equipment, and areas of concern. Manages the radioactive material (RAM) procurement, shipping, and waste programs, maintains DOT and IATA certifications. Assists the Laboratory Safety Coordinator with administering an integrated laboratory safety inspection program in areas of responsibility. Performs laboratory start-ups, PI orientation and biennial refresher training, and laboratory close-out activities for areas of responsibility. Reviews research protocols to identify risks and provides hazard mitigation consultation to faculty and staff.
2+ years of relevant experience.
Two years experience in a research laboratory setting or Environmental Health and Safety at a higher education institution.
Masters degree and experience with academic broad scope licensing or lasers a plus
