Job Description

Welcome to the University of Delaware's Center for Counseling and Student Development! We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychological Assistant to join our team and provide support to our thriving student population.   1. Collaborate with licensed psychologists and counselors to provide mental health services to students.
  2. Conduct intake assessments and assist in creating treatment plans.
  3. Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to address students' mental health concerns.
  4. Provide crisis intervention and referrals for students in need.
  5. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all services provided.
  6. Attend regular staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.
  7. Stay up-to-date on best practices and ethical guidelines in the field of psychology.
  8. Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
  9. Assist with outreach and education initiatives to promote mental health awareness on campus.
  10. Adhere to all policies and procedures of the University and the Center for Counseling and Student Development.
  11. Serve as a compassionate and non-judgmental support for students in distress.
  12. Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere in the Center for Counseling and Student Development.
  13. Serve as a resource for students seeking information on mental health services and support.
  14. Provide consultation and support to faculty and staff who may have concerns about students' mental health.
  15. Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • A Master's Or Doctoral Degree In Psychology Or Counseling: This Qualification Demonstrates A Strong Academic Background In The Field Of Psychology And Prepares The Individual For The Responsibilities Of A Psychological Assistant.

  • Experience In Providing Counseling Or Therapy Services: Candidates Should Possess Prior Experience In Providing Counseling Or Therapy Services To Individuals, Preferably In A University Or College Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Relevant Theories And Techniques: A Strong Understanding Of Various Psychological Theories And Techniques Is Necessary For Effective Counseling. Candidates Should Be Familiar With Techniques Such As Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, And Solution-Focused Therapy.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Role Of A Psychological Assistant Involves Working Closely With Students, Faculty, And Other Members Of The University Community. Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Trusting Relationships And Facilitating Effective Therapy Sessions.

  • Ability To Work Within A Multidisciplinary Team: The Center For Counseling And Student Development At The University Of Delaware Is A Multidisciplinary Team That Includes Psychologists, Counselors, And Psychiatrists. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Other Professionals To Provide Comprehensive And Effective Care To Students.
