
Certified Orthotist and Prosthetist
The University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Certified Orthotist and Prosthetist to join our team. In this highly impactful role, you will be responsible for restoring physical function for patients with limb loss or dysfunction due to disease, trauma, or congenital conditions. If you have a passion for helping people and the drive to make a difference, then this is the job for you! To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics, a minimum of two years of experience in the field, and be certified by the American Board for Prosthetics and Orthotics. An understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, material science, and the ability to think strategically and analytically are all essential qualifications for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide prosthetic and orthotic care to patients with limb loss and/or dysfunction.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust devices for optimal results.
- Design and fabricate custom prostheses and orthoses to meet patient needs.
- Maintain patient records and provide follow-up care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and families on the proper use of prostheses and orthoses.
- Stay up to date on the latest technologies in the field.
- Manage inventory and order new materials and supplies as needed.
- Stay in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
