  1. Oversee all aspects of the Deaf Professional Interpreter Services department, including staffing, budget, and program development.
  2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the provision of high-quality interpreting services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
  3. Collaborate with other departments and campus stakeholders to promote accessibility and inclusivity for the deaf and hard-of-hearing population.
  4. Recruit, train, and supervise a team of skilled interpreters to meet the diverse needs of the University community.
  5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and industry standards in interpreting services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
  6. Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to accessibility and accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
  7. Serve as a resource and advocate for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, providing guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations and resources to enhance the University's services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
  9. Collaborate with the Office of Admissions to ensure prospective students with hearing disabilities have access to necessary accommodations.
  10. Promote a culture of diversity and inclusivity at the University of Rochester, actively working to create an accessible and welcoming environment for all individuals.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In American Sign Language (Asl) Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience As A Professional Sign Language Interpreter In A Variety Of Settings (E.g. Educational, Medical, Legal)

  • Certification By The Registry Of Interpreters For The Deaf (Rid) At The Ci/Ct Or Cdi Level

  • Demonstrated Leadership And Management Experience, Including Supervising And Training A Team Of Interpreters

  • Knowledge Of And Commitment To Promoting Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion In The Provision Of Interpreter Services For Deaf And Hard Of Hearing Individuals.
