- Oversee all aspects of the Deaf Professional Interpreter Services department, including staffing, budget, and program development.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the provision of high-quality interpreting services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
- Collaborate with other departments and campus stakeholders to promote accessibility and inclusivity for the deaf and hard-of-hearing population.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of skilled interpreters to meet the diverse needs of the University community.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and industry standards in interpreting services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
- Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to accessibility and accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, providing guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations and resources to enhance the University's services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
- Collaborate with the Office of Admissions to ensure prospective students with hearing disabilities have access to necessary accommodations.
- Promote a culture of diversity and inclusivity at the University of Rochester, actively working to create an accessible and welcoming environment for all individuals.
Master's Degree In American Sign Language (Asl) Or A Related Field
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience As A Professional Sign Language Interpreter In A Variety Of Settings (E.g. Educational, Medical, Legal)
Certification By The Registry Of Interpreters For The Deaf (Rid) At The Ci/Ct Or Cdi Level
Demonstrated Leadership And Management Experience, Including Supervising And Training A Team Of Interpreters
Knowledge Of And Commitment To Promoting Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion In The Provision Of Interpreter Services For Deaf And Hard Of Hearing Individuals.
