- Set up and maintain stage equipment, including lighting, sound, and props, for performances and events.
- Assist with load-in and load-out of equipment and props for rehearsals and productions.
- Collaborate with production team to ensure smooth execution of performances and events.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions in a timely manner.
- Operate lighting and sound equipment during performances.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on stage equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all staff and performers.
- Communicate effectively with production team and provide updates on any issues or concerns.
- Maintain inventory of stage equipment and supplies and communicate any needs to production manager.
- Attend production meetings and provide input on technical aspects of performances and events.
- Assist with set changes, scenery construction, and other technical aspects of performances.
- Uphold the standards and values of the University of Rochester and the performing arts community.
- Continuously strive for improvement and suggest innovative ideas to enhance the production experience.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in stage technology.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all performers, guests, and staff.

- Perform any other duties as assigned by production manager or supervisor.
Strong Physical Stamina And Ability To Lift Heavy Equipment: As A Stage Hand At The University Of Rochester, You Will Be Responsible For Setting Up And Moving Equipment, Props, And Scenery On And Off Stage. This Requires Physical Strength And Endurance To Handle Heavy And Bulky Items.
Knowledge Of Stage Equipment And Technical Skills: A Good Understanding Of Stage Equipment Such As Lighting, Sound, And Rigging Is Essential For This Role. You Should Also Be Familiar With Technical Skills Such As Carpentry, Electrical Work, And Audio-Visual Technology.
Attention To Detail And Ability To Follow Instructions: Stage Hands Must Be Detail-Oriented And Able To Follow Instructions Accurately To Ensure That The Stage Is Set Up According To The Director's Vision. This Includes Positioning Props And Scenery, Adjusting Lighting Cues, And Operating Equipment.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: Stage Hands Work Closely With Other Members Of The Production Team, Including Directors, Actors, And Other Crew Members. The Ability To Communicate Effectively And Work Collaboratively Is Crucial For A Successful Production.
