Job Description

Advise researchers on the use of the collection and provide research assistance. Conduct research for specialized subject requests among the archive's holdings as needed and determine how to handle problematic requests. Receive, Inventory, catalog, and shelve or create storage for new acquisitions according to professional standards. Make presentations to classes and/or other groups to explain purpose and use of the collection. Ensure that inventory reconciliation, and organization of data and condition reports for the collection are completed on a regular basis. Within budgetary constraints, employ accepted methods of protecting and preserving collection materials. Gather data to develop a budget and track budget activity, as assigned. Prepare financial reports as needed. Provide leadership and guidance to other employees and student workers performing similar work within the unit. Train employees as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge of archival professional practices.

  • Working knowledge of data file formats and software, such as Excel and Archives Space.

  • Three years of experience working in an archive

  • Experience as a special collections’ curator/archivist

  • Knowledge of intellectual property issues related to special collections and archives
