Job Description

Develop working knowledge of the infrastructure that supports TACC resources: networking, computer rooms, building security, etc. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of TACC hardware resources, operational procedures, and policies governing user access to resources. Maintain an active role in user support activities by monitoring the TACC consulting system and the XSEDE Ticket System and assume responsibility for user submitted problems until problem resolution. Assist the TACC Advanced Computing Systems area in monitoring production systems for hardware and software malfunctions and respond appropriately. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience explaining computer and software operations to technical and non-technical users

  • Knowledge of Linux operating system

  • Knowledge of Data Center power and cooling monitoring software such StruxureWare, Johnson Controls and others.

  • Knowledge of AV systems, Crestron, Mediasite, etc

  • Systems level or application level experience in Linux and Solaris operating system environments
