  1. Lead and oversee the technical direction of CNN's news division.
  2. Ensure the highest quality production and delivery of content to millions of viewers worldwide.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative technical solutions.
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in media technology.
  5. Lead and mentor a team of technical professionals to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  6. Manage and prioritize technical projects to meet tight deadlines and deliver results.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and partners.
  8. Identify and address any technical issues or challenges that may arise during production.
  9. Implement and enforce standard operating procedures for technical operations.
  10. Provide technical expertise and guidance to other departments and stakeholders.
  11. Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technology to improve workflows and production quality.
  12. Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute long-term technical strategies.
  13. Communicate and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth integration of technical systems and processes.
  14. Monitor and manage technical budget and expenses.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree In Journalism, Communications, Or A Related Field. A Strong Understanding Of The Media Industry And Current Events Is Essential For This Role.

  • Minimum Of 10 Years Experience In A Leadership Role At A Major News Organization. This Should Include Experience In Directing Live Broadcasts, Managing A Team, And Making Editorial Decisions.

  • Proven Expertise In Technical Operations, Including Knowledge Of Broadcast Equipment, Control Room Systems, And Live Production Workflows. This Role Requires The Ability To Troubleshoot Technical Issues And Make Quick Decisions Under Pressure.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Various Departments And Stakeholders. The Technical Director/Director Must Be Able To Communicate Clearly And Concisely With Producers, Reporters, And Other Team Members To Ensure A Smooth And Successful Broadcast.

  • Ability To Work Flexible Hours, Including Nights, Weekends, And Holidays. News Is A 24/7 Operation, And The Technical Director/Director Must Be Available To Work During Breaking News Situations Or Other Unexpected Events.
