  1. Lead and contribute to research studies related to food and nutrition, with the goal of improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
  2. Use expertise in food and nutrition to develop and implement research methods and protocols.
  3. Conduct literature reviews and stay up-to-date on the latest research and findings in the field of food and nutrition.
  4. Analyze data and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  5. Collaborate with other team members to design and execute research projects.
  6. Serve as a subject matter expert on food and nutrition for internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Keep track of project timelines and deliverables to ensure timely completion of research studies.
  8. Mentor and supervise junior research staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  9. Communicate research findings through written reports, presentations, and publications.
  10. Attend conferences and events to stay informed on emerging trends and advancements in the field of food and nutrition.
  11. Maintain high ethical standards in all research activities.
  12. Continuously seek out and implement innovative approaches to research in the field of food and nutrition.
  13. Represent Westat in a professional manner and uphold the company's mission and values.

Job Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree In Nutrition Or Related Field: A Principal Research Associate At Westat Should Have A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Nutrition, Public Health, Or Food Science. A Higher Degree, Such As A Phd, Is Preferred.

  • Extensive Research Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience Conducting Research In The Field Of Food & Nutrition, Preferably In A Leadership Role. This Includes Experience Designing And Implementing Research Studies, Analyzing Data, And Producing High-Quality Research Reports.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Food & Nutrition: The Principal Research Associate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Current Issues And Trends In The Field Of Food & Nutrition, Including But Not Limited To Food Policy, Food Security, And Nutrition Education. This Knowledge Will Be Essential In Leading And Contributing To Research Projects At Westat.

  • Proficient In Statistical Analysis Software: The Candidate Should Have Experience Working With Statistical Analysis Software Such As Spss, Sas, Or R. Proficiency In These Programs Will Be Necessary For Data Analysis And Report Writing.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Principal Research Associate, The Candidate Will Be Expected To Lead And Collaborate With A Team Of Researchers, As Well As Communicate With Clients And Stakeholders. Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, As Well As Strong Leadership Abilities, Are Essential For Success In This Role.
