- Develop and implement cybersecurity policies and procedures to protect the university's digital assets.
- Monitor and analyze network traffic and system logs to identify potential security risks and threats.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address any weaknesses in the university's systems.
- Collaborate with other departments and university stakeholders to ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.
- Maintain and update security systems and software to protect against emerging threats.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, and provide timely and accurate reports to management.
- Conduct security awareness training for faculty, staff, and students to promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity trends and developments, and continuously seek opportunities to improve the university's security posture.
- Work closely with IT teams to implement and enforce security best practices across the university's network and systems.
- Participate in security audits and risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend solutions.
- Maintain documentation of security procedures, incident response plans, and other relevant information.
- Serve as a point of contact for any cybersecurity-related inquiries or concerns from university stakeholders.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure the security of any third-party systems or services used by the university.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to security incidents outside of regular business hours, as needed.
Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Or A Related Field: A Strong Foundation In Computer Science And Cybersecurity Principles Is Essential For This Position.
Knowledge Of Network Security And Protocols: This Includes Understanding Of Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, And Other Network Security Tools.
Experience With Vulnerability Assessments And Penetration Testing: The Ability To Identify And Exploit Vulnerabilities In Systems Is Crucial For Ensuring The Security Of The University's Network.
Familiarity With Security Policies And Regulations: A Candidate Should Have A Working Knowledge Of Security Best Practices And Compliance Regulations Such As Hipaa And Ferpa.
Strong Communication And Problem-Solving Skills: The Job Requires Working With A Team And Effectively Communicating Complex Technical Information To Non-Technical Individuals. The Ability To Think Critically And Problem-Solve In High-Pressure Situations Is Also Important.
