Job Description

Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Giving to set annual targets and goals for the grants program, including developing quarterly and annual metrics. Develop and oversee grants pipeline. Identify and research potential funding sources. Outline engagement strategies and plans for building relationships with institutional giving representatives. Identify potential funding sources that match the zoo’s program goals and priorities through databases, publications, and government websites. Cultivate, manage, and steward relationships with potential and current foundation program officers and equivalents. Manage the grant development process for corporate, foundation, and government grant applications from start to finish. Work with internal zoo staff and external organization partners to ensure all projects accurately reflect all updated and relevant information. Support all financial aspects of grants management - budget modifications, monitoring spending, and meeting with program administrators, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Update general informational materials in coordination with the zoo’s Communications department.

Job Qualifications
  • Must be familiar with local, state, and federal grant guidelines.

  • At least three years of experience writing grants, whether to private foundations, government funders or both

  • Ability to share stories about the causes you care about, both in writing and in conversation with institutional funders
