Master's Degree In Social Work: Candidates Must Possess A Master's Degree In Social Work From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Effective Palliative Care To Patients And Their Families.
Experience In Palliative Care: Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Palliative Care Setting. This Experience Will Demonstrate Their Ability To Provide Emotional Support And Counseling To Patients With Life-Limiting Illnesses.
Knowledge Of End-Of-Life Care: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of End-Of-Life Care Principles And Practices. This Includes Knowledge Of Pain Management, Advance Care Planning, And Grief Counseling.
Excellent Communication Skills: Social Workers In Palliative Care Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Teams. They Must Also Be Able To Communicate Complex Medical Information In A Compassionate And Understandable Manner.
Licensure And Certification: Candidates Must Hold A Valid Clinical Social Work License In The State Of Connecticut. They Should Also Have Certification In Palliative Care From A Reputable Organization Such As The National Association Of Social Workers (Nasw).
