Job Description

The position will support 3M’s chemical stewardship efforts and will involve determination of physical-chemical properties and studying environmental fate and transport. The position requires competency with the LC-MS/MS analysis of chemicals in environmental media (i.e. soils, sludge, sediment) for evaluating biotic and abiotic /transformation. Prepare environmental samples using multiple methods of sample preparation/extraction techniques. Analyze environmental samples, raw materials, chemicals, and other products using Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry methods (LC-MS/MS, LC-qTOF). Evaluation of the biological degradation/transformation of chemicals in the environment. Prepare detailed laboratory reports, data sheets, and other documentation in accordance to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Good Laboratory Practice (GLP’s) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025 testing laboratory accreditation.

Job Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline from an accredited institution

  • Experience with one or more aspects of environmental chemical fate testing procedures and approaches

  • Strong analytical chemistry knowledge and proficiency with AB Sciex MS/MS and/or Agilent HPLC-MS instrumentation/software

  • Experience with the biological transformation of chemicals in the environment

Compensation
