Job Qualifications

  • Completion Of A Police Academy Training Program: Candidates For The Police Officer Position At Amtrak Must Have Completed A State-Certified Police Academy Training Program. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform Law Enforcement Duties Effectively.

  • Minimum Age Requirement Of 21 Years: Amtrak Requires All Police Officer Candidates To Be At Least 21 Years Of Age, As This Is The Legal Age For Carrying A Firearm And Performing Law Enforcement Duties.

  • Possession Of A Valid Driver's License: Since Police Officers At Amtrak Are Required To Patrol And Respond To Incidents On Amtrak Property, A Valid Driver's License Is A Necessary Qualification. This Ensures That Candidates Are Able To Operate A Vehicle Safely And Legally.

  • Physical Fitness: Candidates Must Pass A Physical Fitness Test To Demonstrate Their Ability To Perform The Physically Demanding Tasks Required Of A Police Officer, Such As Running, Climbing, And Restraining Suspects.
