Job Description

As a Phlebotomist Clerk, you will play a vital role in our organization by assisting in the collection and processing of blood and other specimens for diagnostic testing.   1. Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood and other specimens from patients.
  2. Label all specimens accurately and ensure proper storage and transportation to the laboratory.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and infection control procedures.
  4. Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner, providing excellent customer service.
  5. Verify patient information and ensure correct orders are obtained for each test.
  6. Enter patient data and test information into the computer system accurately.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and efficient specimen collection.
  8. Assist in training and supervising new phlebotomy staff.
  9. Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and notify supervisor when reordering is necessary.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  11. Attend continuing education courses to stay updated on industry developments and best practices.
  12. Handle patient inquiries and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  13. Maintain a positive and respectful relationship with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare providers.
  14. Complete all documentation and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  15. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the success of the phlebotomy department.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Phlebotomist Clerk At Baptist Health Must Possess A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Demonstrate Basic Educational Qualifications.

  • Certification In Phlebotomy: Candidates Must Be Certified In Phlebotomy From An Accredited Institution To Ensure They Have The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Perform Blood Draws And Specimen Collection Accurately And Safely.

  • Previous Work Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Prior Experience In A Healthcare Environment, Preferably In A Phlebotomy Role, Is Desirable To Demonstrate Familiarity With Medical Terminology, Equipment, And Procedures.

  • Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills: Effective Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For A Phlebotomist Clerk At Baptist Health To Interact With Patients, Doctors, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Friendly And Professional Manner.

  • Attention To Detail And Accuracy: As A Phlebotomist Clerk, Accuracy And Attention To Detail Are Crucial In Collecting And Labeling Specimens Correctly, Maintaining Records, And Following All Safety Protocols To Prevent Errors Or Contamination.
