Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Phlebotomist to join the Laboratory team at Baptist Health (Kentucky). Our ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of phlebotomy principles and practices, as well as strong communication and customer service skills. They will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.The successful individual will have a minimum of one year of experience in phlebotomy or a related field. They will be certified by either the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Medical Technologists, or the National Center for Competency Testing, and must have current CPR certification. In addition, a strong knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, infection control, and data entry is essential. The ability to adapt to ever-changing laboratory technology and procedures is also desired.The successful candidate will be committed to providing the highest quality of service to our patients and must have a positive attitude. They must also be able to work effectively with a wide variety of people and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collect blood and other specimens from patients according to established procedures.
  2. Perform venipunctures for diagnostic testing in a timely manner.
  3. Properly label, store, and transport specimens for testing.
  4. Monitor the collection of specimens to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  5. Maintain accurate records of all specimens collected.
  6. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to laboratory safety procedures.
  7. Provide patients with information and instructions regarding specimen collection procedures.
  8. Ensure quality control of all specimens collected in accordance with established procedures.
  9. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and infection control procedures.
  10. Keep abreast of new developments in phlebotomy and related fields.
  11. Assist with the training of new employees.
  12. Maintain current CPR certification.

Job Qualifications
