As a Clinical Documentation Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and comprehensive medical records for our patients.   1. Review and analyze medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  2. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify and obtain missing or conflicting information in medical records.
  3. Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and coding guidelines to accurately document patient conditions and treatments.
  4. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines related to clinical documentation.
  5. Maintain a thorough understanding of electronic medical record systems and utilize them to effectively document patient information.
  6. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and other team members to obtain necessary information and resolve documentation issues.
  7. Identify opportunities for improvement in documentation processes and provide recommendations to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  8. Stay updated on industry changes and updates related to clinical documentation and coding.
  9. Participate in training and education sessions to maintain and improve knowledge and skills.
  10. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  11. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment within the team and the organization.
  12. Support the mission and values of Children's Hospital Colorado in all aspects of job performance.
  13. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all activities and tasks performed.
  14. Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  15. Attend meetings and participate in projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field.

  • Certification As A Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (Ccds) Or Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs).

  • 3-5 Years Of Experience In Clinical Documentation Improvement Or Medical Coding.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Icd-10 Coding Guidelines And Cms Documentation Requirements.

  • Experience Working In A Pediatric Hospital Setting Or With Pediatric Patients Is Preferred.
