Job Description

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia seeks an experienced and self-motivated Animal Research Support Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about animal welfare and have an eye for detail. The Animal Research Support Supervisor will be a leader in the laboratory, supervising and training the research support team and ensuring that all animal research is performed to the highest standards of care and safety.The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with at least three years of experience in an animal research support role. They must also have excellent organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional care for laboratory animals. The Animal Research Support Supervisor will be highly organized, reliable, and have the ability to provide supervision and mentoring to the research support team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and maintain the highest standards of animal welfare, safety, and ethical practices in the laboratory.
  2. Train and supervise research support staff in animal care procedures, safety protocols, and laboratory practices.
  3. Oversee the daily operations of the research support team, ensuring that all tasks are completed with accuracy and efficiency.
  4. Monitor the quality of animal care and research in the laboratory, making necessary adjustments as needed.
  5. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the laboratory.
  6. Ensure that research support staff is adequately trained and knowledgeable on relevant safety protocols and procedures.
  7. Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure that laboratory animals receive the highest quality of care.
  8. Monitor laboratory resources and supplies, overseeing the ordering and restocking of supplies as needed.
  9. Prepare and submit reports on animal research progress and laboratory operations to the department head.
  10. Serve as a liaison between the laboratory and other departments, communicating updates and information as needed.
