Job Description

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a Critical Care Paramedic to join our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team. This is a challenging but rewarding role, as you will provide the highest level of medical care for pediatric patients in a critical care setting. Our ideal candidate is a compassionate professional with a passion for helping children in need, along with the required qualifications to provide the best care possible. The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:• Current certification as a paramedic in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania• Current certification as a critical care paramedic• Knowledge of pediatric advanced life support• At least two years of experience as a paramedic in an emergency medical services setting• Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology• Portable radiography certification• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move a patient up to 200 pounds• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and caring demeanor

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide the highest level of medical care for pediatric patients in a critical care setting.
  2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  3. Follow protocols and procedures for patient care in accordance with hospital policies.
  4. Monitor and assess patient’s condition and respond to changes.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed reports of patient care.
  6. Provide support and assistance to families of pediatric patients.
  7. Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
  8. Work collaboratively with medical staff to provide quality care.
  9. Assist with patient transport and transfers.
  10. Remain knowledgeable of all current policies and procedures.
