- Provide life-saving support to pediatric patients through extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
- Monitor and adjust ECMO equipment and settings to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for each patient.
- Assess patient responses to ECMO treatment and make necessary adjustments.
- Educate patients and their families on the purpose and process of ECMO treatment.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient interactions and treatment plans.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on ECMO technology and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Maintain a compassionate and supportive demeanor when interacting with patients and their families.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for other healthcare professionals on the use of ECMO.
- Continuously assess and evaluate patient progress, making recommendations for further treatment as needed.
- Stay current on all regulations and guidelines related to ECMO therapy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) Certification: The Candidate Must Be A Licensed Rrt With The National Board For Respiratory Care (Nbrc) And Possess Active State Licensure.
Ecmo Specialist Certification: The Candidate Must Have Completed An Approved Ecmo Training Program And Hold A Current Ecmo Specialist Certification From The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (Elso).
Pediatric Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Respiratory Therapist In A Pediatric Setting, With A Strong Understanding Of The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Caring For Critically Ill Pediatric Patients.
Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills: As An Ecmo Specialist, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Managing Complex Cases And Making Critical Decisions In A High-Stress Environment. Therefore, Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills Are Essential For This Role.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: The Candidate Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate And Collaborate With A Multidisciplinary Team, Including Physicians, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
