Job Description

As a Retail Pharmacist at CHOP, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive safe, effective, and timely medication therapy.   1. Dispense medication accurately and efficiently to patients according to prescriptions.
  2. Communicate with healthcare providers to ensure proper dosage, interactions, and patient understanding of medication regimens.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of medication dispensing and patient information.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for pediatric patients.
  5. Educate patients and families on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and any necessary precautions.
  6. Stay up-to-date on current pharmaceutical trends and advancements in pediatric medication therapy.
  7. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards in regards to medication dispensing and patient safety.
  8. Monitor medication inventory and order necessary supplies to maintain adequate stock levels.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, addressing any questions or concerns they may have regarding medication.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.
  11. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with all safety and health regulations.
  12. Serve as a mentor to pharmacy technicians and interns, providing guidance and support as needed.
  13. Attend trainings and conferences to continue professional development and stay current on industry best practices.
  14. Uphold the mission and values of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  15. Follow all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient confidentiality and data protection.

Job Qualifications
  • Doctor Of Pharmacy (Pharmd) Degree From An Accredited Pharmacy Program.

  • Current And Valid Pharmacist License In The State Of Pennsylvania.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Retail Pharmacy Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Pediatric Pharmacy Practice And Medication Management For Children.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Healthcare Team And Patients' Families.
