The City of Burbank is looking for a highly motivated and organized Assistant Planner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for urban planning, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. We are looking for a professional who is creative, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about their work and who will help move our city's planning and development efforts forward.The Assistant Planner will assist with the development and implementation of the City of Burbank's planning, development, and zoning initiatives. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or a related field, experience in a municipal planning setting, and strong understanding of land use laws and regulations. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. A background in GIS and CAD is beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of the City of Burbank's planning, development, and zoning initiatives.
- Research land use laws and regulations and advise on development and zoning regulations.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other documents to support the City's planning efforts.
- Develop plans and proposals to support the City's short- and long-term goals.
- Work collaboratively with City staff and other stakeholders to ensure successful planning projects.
- Utilize GIS and CAD technology to create maps and illustrations to supplement planning efforts.
- Work with the public to ensure customer satisfaction and provide excellent customer service.
- Attend public meetings and provide information and advice on planning projects.
- Monitor and track progress of planning projects and provide updates on progress.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure positive collaboration.
