Job Description

The City of Fresno is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Fire Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, inspecting and repairing fire equipment, including fire trucks, ambulances, pumps, and other related fire apparatus. You must have a high degree of knowledge and understanding of all fire equipment and vehicle maintenance protocols, and be able to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions. You will also be responsible for conducting safety inspections and making repairs as needed. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Required Qualifications:• High school diploma or equivalent• Valid California driver’s license• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen• ASE certifications (Automotive)• Knowledge and experience in the repair and maintenance of firefighting apparatus and vehicles• Ability to read and interpret specifications and diagrams• Ability to use hand and power tools• Ability to lift heavy equipment• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions• Ability to work in hazardous situations• Ability to use a computer and enter data into various systems
