Job Description

As a Youth Sports Official, you will play a crucial role in organizing and officiating various sports leagues for children and teens.   1. Organize and officiate various sports leagues for children and teens.
  2. Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during games and practices.
  3. Uphold and enforce league rules and regulations.
  4. Maintain a positive and inclusive environment for all players, coaches, and spectators.
  5. Provide guidance and mentorship to young athletes.
  6. Communicate effectively with players, coaches, and parents/guardians.
  7. Keep accurate records of game scores, statistics, and player participation.
  8. Attend all necessary trainings and meetings to stay updated on league rules and procedures.
  9. Collaborate with other Youth Sports Officials and staff to ensure smooth operation of leagues.
  10. Represent the City of Stockton in a professional and positive manner.
  11. Act as a role model for youth by exhibiting good sportsmanship and positive behavior.
  12. Continuously assess and improve league operations and procedures.
  13. Provide assistance with league registration and administrative tasks as needed.
  14. Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  15. Maintain a clean and organized sports facility.
  16. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Sports Rules And Regulations: A Youth Sports Official At City Of Stockton Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Rules And Regulations Of The Specific Sport They Will Be Officiating. This Includes Knowledge Of Game Play, Scoring, And Penalties.

  • Previous Officiating Experience: Prior Experience As A Sports Official Is Preferred For This Role. This Could Include Experience Officiating Youth Sports At A Recreational Or Competitive Level, Or Experience Officiating At Higher Levels Such As High School Or College.

  • Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Youth Sports Official, One Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Coaches, Players, And Other Officials During Games. They Must Also Possess Strong Leadership Skills To Enforce Rules And Maintain Control Of The Game.

  • Physical Fitness And Stamina: Officiating Youth Sports Can Be Physically Demanding, So City Of Stockton Requires Individuals To Be In Good Physical Condition. This Includes Having The Stamina To Run Up And Down The Field Or Court For An Extended Period Of Time.

  • Availability And Flexibility: The City Of Stockton May Require Youth Sports Officials To Work Evenings And Weekends, As Most Youth Sports Games Take Place During These Times. Therefore, Candidates Must Have A Flexible Schedule And Be Available To Work During Peak Hours.
