Job Description

At Duke University Health System, we are looking for an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as a Clinical Bed Control Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing bed availability across the health system and ensuring appropriate placements for all patients. This position requires a high level of coordination and collaboration with multiple departments, so excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration or a related field, and a minimum of two years of experience in patient placement or bed management in a healthcare setting. You should also have knowledge of the principles and practices of health care management, and a working knowledge of the hospital information systems (HIS) and other computer systems.If you are a passionate and dedicated professional with the required qualifications, we would love for you to join our team and help us provide the highest level of care to our patients.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure appropriate patient placements across the health system
  2. Monitor and coordinate bed availability within the health system
  3. Maintain effective communication and collaboration with multiple departments
  4. Utilize hospital information systems (HIS) and other computer systems to optimize bed availability
  5. Provide strong leadership and work in a fast-paced environment
  6. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient bed management
  7. Monitor patient census and occupancy levels
  8. Foster relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals to improve patient placements
  9. Respond to patient placements issues and provide solutions in a timely manner
  10. Stay up to date on healthcare regulations and industry best practices
