- Administer and monitor anesthesia care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures, including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative management, and post-operative care.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized anesthesia plans for patients based on their medical history, current condition, and surgical procedure.
- Conduct pre-operative evaluations and obtain informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs, administer medication, and adjust anesthesia levels as necessary during surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Manage and maintain anesthesia equipment, supplies, and medications, ensuring they are properly stocked and in good working condition.
- Document patient care and maintain accurate and complete records of anesthesia administration and patient responses.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, providing education and answering any questions or concerns related to anesthesia.
- Stay up-to-date with current practices, techniques, and drugs related to anesthesia, and participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the advancement of anesthesia care at Duke University Health System.
Graduation From An Accredited Nurse Anesthetist Program: Candidates For A Crna Job At Duke University Health System Must Have Completed A Master's Or Doctoral Degree From An Accredited Nurse Anesthetist Program. This Ensures That They Have Received The Necessary Training And Education To Perform Anesthesia Procedures Safely And Effectively.
Active Rn License And Certification As A Crna: In Addition To A Graduate Degree, Candidates Must Hold A Current Registered Nurse (Rn) License And Be Certified As A Nurse Anesthetist (Crna). This Demonstrates That They Have Met The State's Licensing Requirements And Have Passed A National Certification Exam.
