Job Description

In this role, you will work closely with our occupational and physical therapists to provide essential support and care to patients in their rehabilitation journey.   1. Assist occupational and physical therapists in providing care to patients undergoing rehabilitation.
  2. Collaborate with therapists to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  3. Monitor and document patient progress and report any changes or concerns to therapists.
  4. Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients during therapy sessions.
  5. Prepare therapy equipment and supplies for use by therapists and patients.
  6. Provide hands-on assistance to patients during therapy exercises and activities.
  7. Encourage and motivate patients to actively participate in their therapy sessions.
  8. Assist in transferring and positioning patients according to their individual needs.
  9. Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide information and support.
  10. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent injuries during therapy sessions.
  11. Maintain accurate and organized records of patient information and treatment plans.
  12. Participate in team meetings and provide input on patients' progress and needs.
  13. Continuously strive to improve and enhance patient care by staying updated on therapy techniques and best practices.
  14. Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and a positive attitude towards patients.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of Duke University Health System in all interactions and duties.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Ged: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Therapy Aide At Duke University Health System Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates Basic Knowledge And Skills In General Education And Provides A Foundation For Further Training In The Field.

  • Certification In Occupational Therapy Or Physical Therapy: A Therapy Aide At Duke University Health System Should Have A Certification In Either Occupational Therapy Or Physical Therapy. This Can Be Obtained Through An Accredited Program And Demonstrates A Basic Understanding Of The Principles And Techniques Used In These Fields.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Prior Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In An Inpatient Setting, Is Preferred For A Therapy Aide At Duke University Health System. This Experience Can Include Working As A Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Or In A Similar Role.

  • Basic Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Therapy Aide Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Therapists, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Can Be Obtained Through Previous Work Experience, Coursework, Or Self-Study.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For A Therapy Aide At Duke University Health System. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Caregivers, And Other Healthcare Professionals, As Well As The Ability To Work Collaboratively As Part Of A Team.
