- Assist cardiac surgeons during complex procedures by providing knowledgeable and skilled support.
- Prepare operating room for procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready and functioning properly.
- Anticipate and respond to surgeon's needs during procedures, including passing instruments, holding retractors, and suturing.
- Monitor patient vitals and assist with positioning and draping of patients.
- Administer medications and fluids as directed by the surgeon.
- Maintain a sterile and organized surgical field throughout the procedure.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Continuously assess and troubleshoot any potential issues during procedures.
- Utilize advanced knowledge and skills to assist with complex procedures and techniques.
- Document and maintain accurate records of procedures and patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with new techniques and advancements in cardiac surgery.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as safety and infection control protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of excellence in patient care.
Current Certification As A Certified Surgical First Assistant (Csfa) Or Certified Surgical Assistant (Csa).
Minimum Of 3 Years Experience As A First Assistant In Cardiac Surgery, Preferably In A High-Volume Academic Medical Center Setting.
Completion Of A Nationally Recognized Surgical First Assistant Training Program.
Demonstrated Proficiency In Assisting With Complex Cardiac Procedures, Including Open Heart Surgery, Valve Repair/Replacement, And Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate Effectively With Surgeons, Surgical Team Members, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
