Job Description

Exeter Hospital is looking for an experienced, compassionate Behavioral Health Counselor - Primary Care to join our team. The ideal candidate understands the unique needs of patients and families and will have a passion for providing the highest quality of care. This role requires the ability to provide counseling services in a patient-centered setting that is responsive to the individual needs of our diverse patient population.The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field and be licensed in the state of New Hampshire as a mental health professional. In addition, the candidate must have a minimum of three years of clinical experience in a health care setting, preferably in working with primary care patients. The candidate must also possess the ability to exercise independent judgement and demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.We are looking for a talented professional with a commitment to providing excellent patient care and an understanding of the importance of patient advocacy. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide counseling services to primary care patients in a patient-centered setting
  2. Exercise independent judgement and demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  3. Ensure patient advocacy standards are met
  4. Maintain patient confidentiality
  5. Provide education and resources to patients and their families
  6. Document patient progress
  7. Participate in continuing education activities
  8. Collaborate with other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care
  9. Adhere to professional and ethical standards of practice
  10. Maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices in behavioral health counseling and primary care.
