
Senior Academic Advisor, General & Pre-Health Advising

- Provide academic advising to undergraduate students in the General and Pre-Health fields, including course selection, major/minor requirements, and academic planning.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of GWU's academic programs, policies, and procedures.
- Stay current on industry trends and changes in the healthcare field to effectively guide students in their career planning.
- Develop and implement strategies to support students in achieving their academic and career goals.
- Conduct regular one-on-one advising sessions with students to assess their progress and provide guidance and support.
- Collaborate with faculty and other university departments to ensure students have access to all available resources and support.
- Assist students in navigating challenges and obstacles that may impact their academic success.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions and progress.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for students by fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities to continuously improve advising practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of advising policies and procedures.
- Participate in recruitment and retention efforts to attract and retain students in the General and Pre-Health fields.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues, including new advisors and student support staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with students.
- Stay informed on best practices in academic advising and implement them in daily work.
Master's Degree In Counseling, Higher Education, Or Related Field
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In Academic Advising, Preferably In A University Setting
Knowledge Of General And Pre-Health Academic Requirements And Resources
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Advise And Mentor Students
Ability To Work Collaboratively With Faculty, Staff, And Other Advisors To Support Student Success
