1. Provide academic advising to undergraduate students in the General and Pre-Health fields, including course selection, major/minor requirements, and academic planning.
2. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of GWU's academic programs, policies, and procedures.
3. Stay current on industry trends and changes in the healthcare field to effectively guide students in their career planning.
4. Develop and implement strategies to support students in achieving their academic and career goals.
5. Conduct regular one-on-one advising sessions with students to assess their progress and provide guidance and support.
6. Collaborate with faculty and other university departments to ensure students have access to all available resources and support.
7. Assist students in navigating challenges and obstacles that may impact their academic success.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions and progress.
9. Serve as a mentor and role model for students by fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
10. Participate in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities to continuously improve advising practices.
11. Contribute to the development and implementation of advising policies and procedures.
12. Participate in recruitment and retention efforts to attract and retain students in the General and Pre-Health fields.
13. Provide support and guidance to colleagues, including new advisors and student support staff.
14. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with students.
15. Stay informed on best practices in academic advising and implement them in daily work.
