- Develop and implement infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship strategies and initiatives in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve healthcare outcomes and promote patient safety.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship programs within the organization.
- Monitor and analyze data related to healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic use to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted interventions.
- Develop policies and protocols for infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship in accordance with national guidelines and best practices.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote appropriate antibiotic use and reduce the risk of antimicrobial resistance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship and provide guidance and education to healthcare staff.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and drive efforts to reduce healthcare-associated infections and improve patient outcomes.
- Stay informed about new developments and research in infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship and incorporate best practices into program strategies.
- Foster a culture of safety and quality by promoting a team-based approach to infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Represent the organization in external meetings and conferences related to infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders to ensure compliance with infection control and antimicrobial stewardship regulations.
- Mentor and train other healthcare professionals on infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship principles and practices.
- Serve as a resource and consultant for healthcare providers and patients on infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship matters.
- Ensure timely reporting of infection rates and antimicrobial use to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
- Participate in the development and monitoring of infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship budget and resource allocation.
Medical Background: The Medical Director Must Have A Degree In Medicine And Be Licensed To Practice In The State Of Michigan. They Should Also Have Experience In Infection Prevention And Antimicrobial Stewardship.
Knowledge Of Infection Control Protocols: The Candidate Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Infection Control Protocols And Best Practices, Including Those Set By The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (Cdc) And The World Health Organization (Who).
Leadership Skills: As A Medical Director, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Leading And Managing A Team Of Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Delegate, Motivate, And Communicate Effectively, Are Essential.
Experience In Antimicrobial Stewardship: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record In Implementing Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs And Reducing The Unnecessary Use Of Antibiotics In Healthcare Settings.
