As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing activities to enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our patients.   1. Develop and implement therapeutic recreation activities for patients, with a focus on improving physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  2. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for patients to participate in recreational activities.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to incorporate therapeutic recreation into patient care plans.
  4. Conduct assessments to determine individual patient needs and preferences for recreational activities.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient progress and participation in recreational activities.
  6. Continuously evaluate and adapt recreational activities to meet the changing needs of patients.
  7. Assist in coordinating and leading group activities, as well as providing one-on-one support for patients who require it.
  8. Stay up-to-date on current research and trends in therapeutic recreation to ensure the most effective and evidence-based practices are being utilized.
  9. Communicate with patients and their families to educate them about the benefits of therapeutic recreation and promote participation.
  10. Adhere to all safety protocols and standards to ensure the well-being of patients and staff during recreational activities.
  11. Maintain equipment and supplies necessary for therapeutic recreation activities.
  12. Support a positive and uplifting atmosphere for patients and colleagues.
  13. Attend trainings and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge related to therapeutic recreation.
  14. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to provide a variety of recreational opportunities for patients.
  15. Follow all policies and procedures of the organization to ensure high-quality care is provided to patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Therapeutic Recreation Or A Related Field.

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (Ctrs) Credential From The National Council For Therapeutic Recreation Certification (Nctrc).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In Therapeutic Recreation, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Therapeutic Recreation Practices And Interventions For Various Populations, Including Pediatric, Adult, And Geriatric Patients.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Interdisciplinary Teams And Effectively Lead Therapeutic Recreation Programs.
