Job Description

Creates and maintains GIS layers to ensure spatial and temporal accuracy and produces hard copy or PDF maps. Researches deeds and legal descriptions to clarify data; notes discrepancies in various mapping data, and recommends corrective action. Produces digital cadastral, infrastructural, environmental points of interest and various other data as needed for maps utilizing survey notes, legal descriptions and other recorded instruments, and assigns symbols to appropriate maps. Assists in digital organization, inventorying, and locating maps to ensure accessibility. Interprets aerial imagery to identify infrastructure and natural features to update database maps. Geocodes coordinates using the correct projection and datum translations.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of digital cartographic techniques

  • Some knowledge of land codes and surveying practices

  • One year of computerized or manual map drawing experience
