
Applied Mathematics Intern
Los Alamos National Laboratory is looking for a highly motivated Applied Mathematics Intern to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should be passionate about mathematics and have a strong interest in applying mathematical theory to real-world problems. This position requires a team-oriented personality and a desire to learn new concepts and develop creative solutions. We are looking for someone who can think outside the box, bring a fresh perspective, and contribute to our mission of advancing science and technology.The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics or a related field, with a solid understanding of calculus, linear algebra, and numerical analysis. Strong programming skills in Python or MATLAB are also preferred. Additionally, excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
• Apply mathematical theory to real-world problems • Work in a team-oriented environment to develop creative solutions • Utilize programming skills in Python or MATLAB to develop numerical algorithms • Employ excellent problem-solving and communication skills • Research and analyze data to develop new methods for solving complex problems • Develop reports and presentations detailing research findings • Participate in team meetings and provide input on mathematical topics • Stay up to date on new developments in applied mathematics and related fields
