
Material Handler - Newsprint
The Los Angeles Times is looking for a materials handler to join the team at our downtown LA location. The Newsprint-Material Handler position is responsible for the receiving of newsprint, delivery of proper rolls to the presses and the handling of waste produced by the presses. Clear baler / fluffer of jams. Replace baler wire coils using the lift. Operation of the fork and tugger vehicles – fault / error recovery of the actual vehicles. Operation of the VSM system – impositions and laydown management. Operation of the de-head stations – knowledge of paper sizes and categories. Unloading newsprint – ability to unload trailers and boxcars.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
Ability to learn the various sizes and weights of the newsprint
Skills to operate de-heading stations and basic roll carrier recovery
