- Develop and implement personalized nutrition plans for individuals with Down syndrome, taking into account their unique needs and challenges.
- Conduct nutritional assessments and provide ongoing monitoring and support for patients and their families.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with Down syndrome.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in nutrition for individuals with Down syndrome to ensure the highest quality of care.
- Educate patients and their families on proper nutrition, including meal planning, portion control, and healthy eating habits.
- Work closely with patients to address any nutritional concerns or challenges, such as food aversions or difficulty with feeding.
- Provide guidance and support to caregivers and family members on how to best support the nutritional needs of individuals with Down syndrome.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of patient care, assessments, and progress.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to treatment planning and goal setting for patients.
- Act as an advocate for individuals with Down syndrome, promoting their nutritional needs and rights within the healthcare system.
- Continuously evaluate and improve nutrition programs and services to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
- Serve as a resource and expert on nutrition for individuals with Down syndrome, both within the clinic and in the community.
- Adhere to all ethical and professional standards, including maintaining patient confidentiality and respecting cultural and personal beliefs.
- Maintain a positive and compassionate attitude towards patients and their families, providing emotional support and empathy as needed.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge in the field of nutrition for individuals with Down syndrome.
Registered Dietitian (Rd) Certification From The Commission On Dietetic Registration.
Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition Or Related Field, With A Focus On Clinical Dietetics.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working As A Clinical Dietitian, Preferably In A Pediatric Or Down Syndrome Clinic Setting.
Knowledge Of Specific Nutritional Needs And Considerations For Individuals With Down Syndrome, Including Feeding Difficulties And Common Comorbidities.
Ability To Collaborate With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Individualized Nutrition Counseling And Education For Patients And Their Families.
