  1. Develop and implement strategies for preserving and promoting MUSC Health's collections and history.
  2. Conduct research on the institution's collections and create exhibitions that showcase their significance and relevance.
  3. Collaborate with other departments and staff to identify and acquire new pieces for the collections.
  4. Manage and maintain the collections, including cataloging, inventory management, and conservation.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with donors, artists, and other institutions to support the growth and sustainability of the collections.
  6. Plan and coordinate educational programs and events related to the collections and history of MUSC Health.
  7. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in museum studies and curatorial work.
  8. Train and supervise interns and volunteers assisting with curatorial tasks.
  9. Ensure the proper handling and storage of all collection items, following industry standards and protocols.
  10. Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote exhibitions and collections through various channels.
  11. Develop and manage budgets for exhibitions and collection-related projects.
  12. Participate in fundraising efforts to support the growth and maintenance of the collections.
  13. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all collections and related activities.
  14. Attend professional conferences and networking events to represent MUSC Health and stay connected with the larger museum community.
  15. Uphold ethical and legal standards in all aspects of curatorial work, including acquisition, loan, and deaccessioning processes.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Art History, Museum Studies, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In A Curatorial Role, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Best Practices In Museum Collections Management, Including Cataloging, Preservation, And Exhibition Design.

  • Strong Communication And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders Such As Artists, Healthcare Professionals, And Community Members.

  • Demonstrated Passion For The Intersection Of Art And Healthcare, With The Ability To Curate Thought-Provoking And Engaging Exhibitions That Promote Healing And Wellness.
