Job Description

As a Patient Safety Companion, you will have the important responsibility of ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients during their hospital stay.   1. Provide constant observation and monitoring of assigned patients to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  2. Recognize and report any changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  3. Assist patients with daily activities, such as eating, bathing, and using the restroom, as needed.
  4. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure a positive and collaborative working environment.
  6. Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage potential conflicts or challenging behaviors.
  7. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of observations and interventions in the patient's medical record.
  8. Attend all required training and education sessions to stay updated on patient safety practices and procedures.
  9. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control measures, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  11. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients who may be feeling anxious or distressed.
  12. Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  13. Act as a role model for patient safety by demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the healthcare team to support the overall care and safety of patients.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For This Position Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates Basic Educational Competency And The Ability To Understand And Follow Instructions.

  • Previous Healthcare Experience: Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Long-Term Care Facility, Is Highly Preferred For This Role. This Experience Provides A Basic Understanding Of Healthcare Procedures And Protocols, And Familiarity With Patient Care Environments.

  • Cpr Certification: A Current Cpr Certification Is Required For This Position. This Certification Shows The Candidate's Ability To Respond Quickly And Effectively In Emergency Situations, Which Is A Crucial Aspect Of Being A Patient Safety Companion.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For A Patient Safety Companion. This Role Requires Constant Communication With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Family Members, So The Ability To Effectively Communicate And Convey Information Is Crucial.

  • Empathy And Compassion: A Patient Safety Companion Must Have A Compassionate And Empathetic Demeanor. This Role Involves Providing Emotional Support And Comfort To Patients, So Having A Caring And Understanding Attitude Is Essential.
