We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dialysis Registered Nurse to join our team at Northwell Health.   1. Administer Dialysis Treatments: The primary responsibility of a Dialysis Registered Nurse is to provide safe and effective dialysis treatments to patients with end-stage renal disease. This includes setting up and monitoring dialysis machines, checking vital signs, and administering medications as needed.
  2. Monitor Patient Health: The Dialysis RN is responsible for closely monitoring the health and well-being of each patient before, during, and after treatments. This includes assessing and documenting patient symptoms, reactions to treatment, and any changes in health status.
  3. Educate Patients and Families: It is the responsibility of the Dialysis RN to educate patients and their families on proper care and management of their condition. This includes explaining the dialysis process, medication management, and dietary restrictions.
  4. Collaborate with Healthcare Team: As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Dialysis RN must work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care.
  5. Maintain Medical Records: Accurate and timely documentation of patient treatment and progress is a crucial responsibility of the Dialysis RN. This includes maintaining medical records, updating treatment plans, and communicating any changes to the healthcare team.
  6. Ensure Safety and Infection Control: The Dialysis RN is responsible for adhering to strict safety and infection control protocols to protect both patients and healthcare workers. This includes proper handling and disposal of medical waste, following hand hygiene guidelines, and monitoring proper sterilization techniques.
  7. Provide Emotional Support: Patients with end-stage renal disease often experience emotional distress along with their physical symptoms. The Dialysis RN must provide compassionate and empathetic care to help patients cope with their illness and treatment.
  8. Stay Current with Industry Standards: The Dialysis RN is responsible for staying up-to-date with industry standards, best practices, and advancements in dialysis technology. This includes attending continuing education courses and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

Job Qualifications
  • Bls And Acls Certification.

  • Valid Rn License And Current Registration In The State Of New York.

  • Minimum Of 1 Year Of Experience In A Dialysis Setting, Preferably In An Acute Care Hospital.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Hemodialysis And Peritoneal Dialysis Procedures, Equipment, And Medications.

  • Ability To Assess Patient Needs And Provide Individualized Care Plans, As Well As Collaborate With Interdisciplinary Team Members To Ensure Comprehensive Patient Care.
