Job Description

Welcome to Northwell Health! We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Urology team. As a Medical Assistant in our Urology department, you will play a crucial role in supporting our patients and medical staff.   1. Provide support to urology patients: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting urology patients before, during, and after their appointments. This includes checking them in, taking their vitals, and preparing them for their appointments.
  2. Assist with urological procedures: The Medical Assistant will be trained to assist the urology team during procedures, including catheterizations, cystoscopies, and other specialized procedures. They will be responsible for setting up equipment, preparing patients, and providing assistance to the medical staff.
  3. Maintain patient records: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for accurately recording patient information, including medical histories, test results, and other relevant data. They will also ensure that all records are kept confidential and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  4. Educate patients: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for educating patients about their urological conditions, procedures, and treatment plans. This includes providing instructions for at-home care and answering any questions or concerns they may have.
  5. Assist with administrative tasks: The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for completing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and maintaining inventory of medical supplies. They will also assist with insurance verification and billing as needed.
  6. Collaborate with medical staff: The Medical Assistant will work closely with the urology team, including physicians, nurses, and other medical staff, to ensure efficient and effective patient care. They will also communicate any important updates or concerns regarding patients to the team.
  7. Uphold quality and safety standards: The Medical Assistant will adhere to all quality and safety standards set by Northwell Health and the urology department. They will ensure that all equipment is properly sterilized and maintained, and that all procedures are performed in a safe and hygienic manner.
  8. Provide exceptional customer service: As the first point of contact for patients, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Or Registered Medical Assistant (Rma) Credential.

  • Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Urology Clinic Or Related Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Urology Procedures And Terminology.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Team Members.

  • Proficiency In Electronic Medical Records (Emr) And Other Computer Systems Commonly Used In Medical Offices.
